Why Maranda?
I'm Maranda Saling, and I’ve spent my career at the intersection of politics, advocacy, and community — building systems that move people from interest to impact. From managing legislative priorities in Washington to leading field operations across the Midwest, I understand how policy and people power work together to drive real change.
My path into politics began through Bellflower Communications, the PR firm I founded in Stark County to help local businesses, nonprofits, and levies tell their stories and connect authentically with their communities. Over time, that work — shaping narratives, organizing events, and amplifying voices — led me naturally into campaigns and public service. I realized the same principles that grow businesses also grow movements: relationships, trust, and clear, values-based storytelling.
I went on to join Senator Cory Booker’s 2020 presidential campaign as a field organizer, knocking thousands of doors and mobilizing volunteers across Iowa. That grassroots work grounded my understanding of organizing from the field up — experience I carried into Booker’s Senate office, where I managed constituent communications during the pandemic and trained staff to streamline outreach systems reaching tens of thousands weekly.
Since then, I’ve led field and operations for J.D. Scholten’s Iowa Senate campaign, built national advocacy programs as Director of Advocacy at the Congressional Management Foundation, and advanced rural and environmental policy as Government Affairs Manager at the Rural Community Assistance Partnership.
Even while working in D.C., I’ve stayed closely connected to Stark County, Ohio, the community that shaped my values and continues to anchor my work. Whether I’m designing volunteer infrastructure, advising candidates, or crafting communications strategy, I bring both national perspective and Ohio grit to every project.
What sets me apart is the ability to bridge strategy and execution — from grassroots organizing and communications to the systems and structure that keep movements running long after election day.
